Monday July 18 – 7:00-8:30 PM
U of A Fine Arts Building room 1-23
This introductory workshop is designed for music educators and students in order to create more ease, freedom and expression in playing. Learn clear, concise information about the body and discover your own body map, or what neuroscientists call your internal representation, and how it shapes movement. Come and meet Fred the skeleton and dress comfortably for movement explorations. Bring your instrument.
As a certified Andover Educator, Amber offers body mapping workshops and private lessons for performers, teachers, and students of all ages. She teaches cello at Wilfrid Laurier’s String Academy in Waterloo, the Suzuki String School in Guelph, Oakville Suzuki, and in the summer at institutes across the country. A versatile chamber and orchestral musician, Amber has been cellist with the Madawaska String Quartet since 2007, performing and recording a wide range of repertoire and appearing at major venues throughout Canada. Amber finds the human body as equally fascinating as music, and enjoys backpacking, canoeing, pilates, yoga, and reading neuroscience.
Teachers and senior students should register here for this exciting workshop. Workshop fee is $25 / ASSI registered students and teachers $20.
