She studied in Japan for two years with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, earning a Suzuki Violin Teacher\u2019s Certificate. Flory is a registered Suzuki Violin Teacher Trainer and has trained violin teachers in Europe and North America. She has played solo, chamber music and orchestral concerts in eleven countries on three continents under such conductors as Leopold Stokowski, Walter Susskind, and Holywood film composer Carmen Dragon. Flory worked four years as a studio violinist in southern California playing back ups for radio and TV commercials and pop groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sobieraj, Conrad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_31367890E848-1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1263 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_31367890E848-1-205x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"205\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_31367890E848-1-205x300.jpeg 205w, https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_31367890E848-1-701x1024.jpeg 701w, https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_31367890E848-1-768x1122.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/IMG_31367890E848-1.jpeg 1025w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 205px) 100vw, 205px\" \/><\/a>Edmonton born cellist and composer Conrad Sobieraj began playing cello at age 4 under the instruction of his mother Grazyna Sobieraj. In preparation for university he studied with Silvia Buttiglione of the Vaughan String Quartet, and went on to complete his Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Alberta under the instruction of Rafael Hoekman. During the first two years of his degree, the Vertex String Quartet premiered both of his compositions in 2017 and 2018 respectively.<\/p>\n<div id=\"read2020570052\" class=\"read_div\">He continues composing tunes for his students and peers. Conrad is one of the founding members of the early music group Convivencia Canad\u00e1, and a Bossa-nova trio, Rei Rei Rei. Currently he plays in the Vertex String Quartet, and is the principal cellist of the River City Orchestra. When he is not performing, Conrad is teaching, composing, and painting.<\/div>\n<p><strong><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG_0813-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-983 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG_0813-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG_0813-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG_0813-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG_0813-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG_0813-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/albertasuzukiinstitute.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/IMG_0813-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Zalkovic, Julia &#8211; Violin <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Julia Zalkovic was born in Edmonton Alberta, and began playing the violin when she was 7 years old. She began her studies at the Suzuki Charter School, learning the Suzuki Method. She later studied with Violaine Melan<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00e7<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on at the Schulich School of Music (McGill University) in Montreal where she graduated with her Bachelor in Violin Performance degree in December of 2023. She has competed in numerous competitions, receiving scholarships as well as competing in Provincial competitions. Julia also began teaching both violin and piano (which she plays as a secondary instrument) when she was 14, and teaches both to this day. In 2016, she received the Iris Evans Scholarship \u2018Most Likely To Become A Professional Artist Award\u2019 from the Sherwood Park Music Festival. In 2017, she was a finalist in the ASA concerto competition, and won the Sherwood Park Music Festival\u2019s Concerto competition in that same year. In 2018, she performed the complete Mozart Concerto No. 4 in D major alongside an orchestra, as a result of her winning the concerto competition the year prior. She has also performed in orchestras, being part of the EYO (Edmonton Youth Orchestra) at the age of 12, and later playing as part of the University of Alberta\u2019s USO (University Symphony Orchestra) at the age of 18. While playing as a member of the USO, Julia majored in Psychology at the University of Alberta.
