Teacher Development Courses at ASSI 2024

Teachers enter the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Development Program with well-honed playing skills, thorough musical knowledge and a strong interest in teaching children. The Program’s carefully organized curriculum is presented by experienced SAA-registered Teacher Trainers who guide the participants through the Suzuki Method© repertoire and pedagogy unit by unit.

ASSI 2024 offers a wide range of Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Teacher Development courses in violin, viola, cello, bass and Suzuki Early Childhood Education.

Some Teacher Training Courses at ASSI 2024 will be delivered online. All prices are in CDN$ and all times are in Mountain Daylight Time.

Violin Unit 1

Wednesday July 24 to Wednesday July 31, 2024

Class times: TBA

Unit 1 teacher training starts from the first lesson and covers the initial steps to successfully setting up a beginning student through to the end of book 1. The course includes 28 hours of class time and 15 hours of guided observation over 8 days.

This course will be online.

Prerequisites:

Every Child Can! (To learn more, read about the ECC! course and its guidelines)

and

Completed SAA teacher training video audition for the basic, intermediate or comprehensive levels. Please see https://suzukiassociation.org/teachers/training/audition/ for audition requirements. Please do your video audition as soon as possible as you will not be able to take the course unless your audition has been accepted before the start date. The SAA recommends submitting your audition video and application at least 8 weeks prior to the start of the course.

*All audition materials must be submitted by July 10th, 2024.

Prerequisites:

High school graduation completed and the age of 18 are required. There are no instrument proficiency requirements. (No audition is required.) There will be no auditor status for this course.
